In addition to the nationwide, states and territories have also created local business relief packages. From payroll tax to land tax and infrastructure, State Government initiatives for South Australia are outlined below. (Please click on the links below for more information.)

Payroll Tax Waiver

All eligible businesses with grouped annual payroll up to $4m from April to September 2020 can receive a 6-month waiver of payroll tax.  Additionally, $300m in support for affected industries and businesses to help prevent potential collapse. Details yet to be announced by SA government at the time of blog publish.

Payroll Tax Deferral

All eligible businesses with grouped annual payroll of more than $4m who can demonstrate significant cash flow impacts of COVID-19 can apply for 6-month deferral of payroll tax from April to September 2020.

Land Tax Relief

Businesses who are required to pay land tax and those who meet the existing relief criteria of the Land Tax Transition Fund, can receive:

  • 6-month deferral of land tax for businesses with outstanding quarterly bills for FY20;
  • Increase in the FY21 Land Tax Transitions Fund from 50% to 100%.

Waiver of Liquor License Fees

Eligible hotels, restaurants, clubs and cafes who have been forced to close as a result of COVID-19 restrictions will receive a waiver of liquor license fees for 2020-2021.

Infrastructure Package

$350m in funds committed for current infrastructure projects, road maintenance, housing, tourism and health. Details yet to be announced by SA government at the time of blog publish.
