Paid Pandemic Leave for Victorians

After concern that those who have been told to self-isolate are facing the tough decision between obeying public health orders and feeding their families, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced paid pandemic leave for Victorians.

The paid pandemic leave will be a once off fortnight payment of $1,500 for those who have no sick leave available.

Who is eligible?

The following points must be met to eligible:

  • Above the age of 17
  • Living in Victoria
  • No income from paid work, including sick leave entitlements

The Victorian Department of Health and Human Services must also have told you to self-isolate or quarantine for the following reasons:

  • You have COVID-19
  • You have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19
  • You care for a child who is 16 or under with COVID-19
  • You care for a child who is 16 or under who has been in contact with a person who has COVID-19

If you are required to self-isolate more than once, you can claim for the payment each time.

Who is not eligible?

You cannot receive the payment if you are receiving any of the following:

  • Income, earnings or salary from paid work
  • The JobKeeper payment
  • The Victorian Coronavirus Worker Support Payment
  • An income support payment, ABSTUDY Living Allowance, Paid Parental Leave or Dad and Partner Pay

How do you claim?

You can claim the payment over the phone on 180 22 66, 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
